How do I know what my gift supports?
Through donor communications and events throughout the year, you will learn about your gift’s impact and the difference you are making across campus.
You may also direct your generosity toward a specific designation within St. John’s: the Arts, Athletics and Intramurals, Campus Ministry and Service, Faculty Professional Learning, Student Growth, Tuition Assistance, or the Greatest Need. These designations serve to not only empower donors but also enhance the transparency regarding your gift’s application.
The majority of Prep donors direct their gift to the Greatest Need—a choice that holds immense impact and offers St. John’s maximum flexibility. Our Board of Trustees and Head of School judiciously steer these resources to address the most pressing priorities of the current academic year.
Why do we need the Fund for St. John's?
Like most private schools, St. John’s tuition and endowment resources cover most—but not all—of the full cost of educating our students.
This is where the Fund for St. John’s steps in. These gifts are put to immediate use, allowing the Prep to offset costs in real-time and invest in priorities that otherwise would not be supported.
Moreover, donations have a direct impact on the amount of tuition assistance we can offer to families each year. Tuition assistance, even a modest award, is often the difference-maker in whether a student can experience St. John’s. Providing need-based tuition assistance embodies the very essence of our Xaverian spiritual values and remains mission-critical for our School.
Who gives to the Fund for St. John's?
The short answer is—everyone! Alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, friends of the Prep, and even students come together to contribute each year.
This broad spectrum of participation is a testament to our community’s commitment to our mission and shared belief in the transformative power of the Prep experience.
Does my gift really make a difference?
Yes! It’s difficult to overstate the importance of every gift. The collective success of the Fund for St. John’s requires each of us contributing what we can.
Plus, your participation in and of itself is a powerful catalyst. When there is a strong majority of alumni and families who contribute—no matter the amount—others are inspired to join in with their own support.
My family pays tuition. Why should we still donate?
We understand that for our families, tuition is a significant investment in your student’s educational journey at the Prep and beyond. We also aspire for every current family to make an annual gift to the Fund for St. John’s at any level.
